Development Report – Summer / Fall 2026 – Release Date Announcement, Japanese Voiceover Reveal, and SuperPROTEIN Studios’ Tokyo Game Show Debut!

It’s been a while since we made a full-length devlog, so we’ll get straight into it with the biggest announcement first:

Unmasked Truths: Shattered Dreams® releases Arc 1 on April 12, 2027!

Unmasked Truths: Shattered Dreams® releases April 12, 2027, complete with 2 Voiced (English, Japanese) and 11 Text (English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, Spanish [Latin America], Spanish [Spain], Korean, Portuguese [Brazil], Russian, Simplified Chinese) languages.
As you can see in our premiere announcement trailer that we shared in late 2025 and that is also currently still viewable on Steam and YouTube, we originally planned to release Unmasked Truths: Shattered Dreams® Arc 1 in 2026.

However, certain “circumstances” *cough* GTA 6 *cough* made us reconsider our original release date plans which resulted in a push to January—

*cough* Danganronpa 2×2 *It’s been a decade since they released anything, literally what are the odds???*

And then February—

*cough* Persona 4 Revival *Wow we really have picked the perfect release and backup windows in our genre if everyone else is announcing releases during the same time windows, huh…*

Then Mar—

*throws up hands* Steam Next Fest 2027 *I guess we’ll be updating the demo before launch!*
Many factors influence a game's release date, especially when you’re a new indie developer that has poured everything for 5+ years into a project and are trying to avoid being crushed under the algorithm and SEO boot of larger, more established corporations and IPs.
But we haven’t been sitting idle while waiting for the date we’re releasing the game!

As a result of numerous revisions to our plans due to the aforementioned “circumstances,” when the game releases in 2027 players will be able to enjoy Unmasked Truths: Shattered Dreams® with English and Japanese voiceover (more updates on this later in the devlog!), plus the following 11 text languages:

  • French
  • Italian
  • German 
  • Spanish (Latin America)
  • Spanish (Spain)
  • Korean
  • Portuguese (Brazil)
  • Russian
  • Simplified Chinese
Since earlier this year, we’ve been working extremely hard alongside more than two dozen translation and localization professionals (be sure to check them out along with all the other lovely contributors who’ve helped make this game happen on the Our Team page!… Wow, that list sure has gotten long over the years…)

We as game developers learned a lot through the process, and have worked with the translators with the goal of cultural and other references communicating the original English script’s feeling and intent to readers across the globe in their native languages.
Recently, the translators working to bring the the Unmasked Truths: Shattered Dreams® script from its original English into German — Johanna Czerny and Anett Enzmann — led a special presentation on the A.Maze Stage at Gamescom 2026 in Germany!

During the forum, they showcased and discussed some of their work on Unmasked Truths: Shattered Dreams®. If you’ve been watching our social media, then you already know that in the lead-up to Tokyo Game Show 2026 we made a series of very special announcements revealing the Japanese voices bringing to life the characters of Unmasked Truths: Shattered Dreams®:
You can learn more about both the English and Japanese Voiceover Team, listen to a sneak peek of their performances on the updated Character bio pages, or check out a preview of the “Prologue” (featuring the voices of talented VA, Japanese Casting Director, and Japanese Voice Director Diana Garnet as the Paparazzi and Alice, Enoki Junya as Lee Dae Hyun, Motomura Rena as Izumi Sada, and Kobayashi Chikahiro as Sergei Ivankov) and “Sinners and Saints” (featuring the voices of Mochizuki Shunsuke as Leandre Thaïs and Sugiyama Riho as Lucienne Gant) today on Steam (currently available in both English voice + text, and Japanese voice + text)!
During our Japanese demo debut at the 30th Anniversary of Tokyo Game Show this year, SuperPROTEIN Studios met with manufacturers and even gave away our first exclusive merch in the form of limited edition tarot cards each featuring one of 10 different images of the World☆Class members of the Unmasked Truths: Shattered Dreams® cast!
Pardon our Errors — It’s hard work for such a small team to manage so many assets while meeting the demanding deadlines of creating a demo to showcase at an irl event, and sometimes details slip through the cracks. Were doing our best to make sure the final product is as perfect as possible before the release date of Unmasked Truths: Shattered Dreams® Arc 1 on April 12, 2027!
This was our first physical merch, and it was created exclusively for attendees of Tokyo Game Show 2026, but it certainly won’t be our last!
